Music Video of the Day recap week 3 (Sept. 3 – 9)

Week three (Music Video of the Day #15) started off with the brand new Jazmine Sullivan, “Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles)”. I did not even realise she had a new album coming out till I saw it on someone else’s blog! Sounds promising! Love Me Back is set for release November 2!

Jazmine Sullivan – Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles) (September 3, #15)

From the excellent Witching Hour, “Destroy Everything You Touch”. I still have to listen to Velocifero more.

Ladytron – Destroy Everything You Touch (September 4, #16)

Another new video, KT Tunstall’s first UK single, “(Still A) Weirdo”. From the upcoming LP Tiger Suit! “Fade Like a Shadow” is the first North American single. Tiger Suit is released September 27 in the UK, and October 5 in North America. I’m looking forward to seeing her live at the end of November!

On The Prodigy’s Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned (2004), only Liam Howlett was present on the album, and it featured many collaborators. Invaders Must Die (2009) saw the return of Keith Flint and Maxim Reality, making it the first Prodigy record to have all three since 1997’s The Fat of the Land. So in essence it is a proper Prodigy album, and comeback, or return album if you will. I never listened extensively to Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned, I thought it was alright, however without the other two, it was more of Liam Howlett’s album under The Prodigy name. Regardless, Invaders Must Die lived up to the hype, a terrific return!

What more to say, other than some terrific classic Britpop! Trivia note, it is thanks to Justine Frischmann, and Canadian electroclash artist Peaches (Merrill Nisker) that Maya Arulpragasam, better known as M.I.A. is where she is today.

Elastic – Line Up (September 7, #19)

Great folk/bluegrass track from The Be Good Tanyas, “The Littlest Birds”. From their first album Blue Horse in 2000. Jollie Holland, a founding member of The Be Good Tanyas is present on this album.

I believe this was the first Metric song I heard. From their excellent commercial debut, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? that I blogged about a few days ago, as my LP of the Week. As I mentioned on Twitter, and on my blog post, it will be featured in Rock Band 3! Oh, and they are Canadian of course (even though they have been based out of numerous cities at different times)!

Metric – Combat Baby (September 9, #21)
