Serena Ryder – Stompa music video, yes!

Brand spanking new music from fellow Canadian Serena Ryder:

Serena Ryder - HarmonyI have been looking for the video for “Stompa” since first hearing the title, as the title alone makes it sound like it will be a good song! And it is, with a driving guitar loop and drum beat! Serena rocks a Gibson Flying V in the fairly minimalistic video that works quite well for the song.

Gotta get up, listen to me
Clappa your hands, stompa your feet
Nothing is wrong, if you move to the beat
Clappa your hands, stompa your feet
Stompa your feet

Serena Ryder is a (pretty cool) Canadian singer-songwriter that has been at it for a while, she released her independent debut (Falling Out) back in 1999. Harmony (released November 27, 2012) is her fourth album since then, and she also has a live album under her belt which includes a collaboration with Melissa Etheridge on the track “Broken Heart Sun”.

I have listened to the album a couple of times so far, and as the CBC said about her showing her happy side on the record, it is definitely filled with plenty of songs in major keys!

Along with “Stompa”, hightlights include the opener “What I Wouldn’t Do” which sounds like it could have been pulled from her previous effort, Is It O.K. with its catchy clapping backed chorus, “For You”, which is practically a standard complete with a string section, and the gospel-esque closer clocking in at just 54 seconds, featuring just acapella and minor harmony.

Another really cool track, “Little Bit Of Red” from 2008’s Is It O.K..

And her cover of “Good Morning Starshine” from her mostly covers album, If Your Memory Serves You Well (2006):
